Osteria More e Macine is a Northern Italian, Piedmontese-focused restaurant tucked into the heart of La Morra on Via XX Settembre. Its location on the main street, up an inviting staircase leading to a large terrace and balcony overlooking the road, makes it an appealing spot for visitors who want to soak in a bit of local rhythm while enjoying a meal. The terrace uses a shade cloth, offering comfort even on sunnier days, which hints that late afternoons into early evenings are a particularly nice time to settle in.

The atmosphere here strikes a balance between lively and relaxed, with steady foot traffic of both locals and visitors who appreciate a well-curated wine list alongside thoughtfully prepared dishes. The wines lean heavily into Italian selections, reflecting the region’s strengths, including some rarer bottles, yet the list also nods to broader international picks. Guests typically enjoy by-the-glass pours, often pairing with aperitivi or a more extensive meal.

When it comes to food, Osteria More e Macine’s focus on Piedmontese classics is evident and well-executed. Standout small plates like the Vitello Tonnato and Battuta di Fassona show careful ingredient choices and technique, appealing especially to those who savor traditional northern Italian flavors presented with straightforward respect. Their homemade pasta, including Tajarin al Ragù and Ravioli del Plin with white truffle shavings, ties the menu nicely to the local culinary identity. Larger mains such as Tagliata di Fassone and Brasato deliver hearty, rustic satisfaction, although some dishes might lean towards a denser texture, which speaks to authentic regional styles rather than modern refinement.

The staff’s deep wine knowledge and attentive service enhance the experience without feeling overbearing, allowing guests to linger comfortably and ask questions. Booking ahead is advisable, especially for dinner, as the place fills quickly with people drawn by its reputation and location. Prices remain reasonable relative to the quality of ingredients and the generous pours, making it accessible for both locals and travelers looking for genuine Piedmontese fare with a side of convivial local buzz.

In essence, Osteria More e Macine offers a dining experience best suited to diners who appreciate authentic northern Italian cuisine paired with carefully chosen wines, enjoyed in a spot that blends casual terraceside views with the intimacy of a small-town restaurant. It’s a place to arrive early or during an aperitif hour to enjoy the steady but never rushed flow of guests, making it a strong pick for those seeking both local flavor and a touch of La Morra’s lively street presence.

More Macine has a great energy, an incredible by-the-glass selection, and a very strong wine list focused mostly on Italian wines, with some really interesting bottles from around the world as well. The prices feel reasonable for the quality they offer, and the food clearly shows good ingredients and careful execution. The vitello tonnato is classic and very well done, and overall the food is very good. Maybe the vegetable tart was the only dish that felt a bit more average compared to the rest of the menu. The place is cool, lively, and always full, so reservations are definitely recommended unless you want to wait. The terrace is beautiful, and if you get the corner table on the balcony around sunset, the atmosphere is honestly amazing. We liked it enough to go back three times during our stay. Service is good overall, although a little more warmth and empathy would make the experience even better. One thing worth mentioning is the wine temperature. Considering how serious and high-quality the wine program is, especially the Coravin and by-the-glass selections, many of the red wines were served too warm to fully enjoy them at their best. Maybe right when the place opens the wines are fresher, but once service gets busy, the temperatures seem to rise quickly. Drinking excellent wines by the glass that cost €20 or €25 while they are noticeably warm simply takes away from the experience. I completely understand that red wine should not be served cold, but there is a big difference between proper serving temperature and wine that feels overheated. Honestly, this is also something quite common in many wine bars here in Italy. After visiting many of them, we can count on one hand the places truly serving reds by the glass at ideal temperatures. Still, overall the food is very good, the wine selection by the glass and bottle is excellent, and the atmosphere is vibrant and fun. Definitely a place I would recommend visiting.

In the Main Street of La Morra set upstairs, large terrace with a shade cloth, also a balcony facing the road. Our waiter was excellent with great wine knowledge & was the right amount of attention. We had primi x2 deserts x2 & bollicine (Alta Langhe) wine by the glass x2 for about E50. Lots of other people arrived soon after 6 for dinner plus several for aperitivi.

Outstanding. We took 3 first dishes of Vitello Tonnato, Battuta di Fassona and Uovo 63°, fonduta di Holzhofer, cardi. All were just perfectly made. I could eat more and more. For main we choose the Tagliata di Fassona that was wonderful and the Brasato, long cooked beef but for us it was abit dry. Good wine and lovely atmosphere. Definitely will recommend. Better to reserve a table ( even in low season such as Jan).

Excellent quality food, wine and great service. I think you have to book as very busy. But well worth it.

A genuine jewel in the begging of the historical center of Morra! We were there for early dinner and although we did not make a reservation the staff find us a table. Everything was great, the staff was really helpful with our questions about the food. Congrats to the team!!

Home-cooked, traditional piedmont dining and a cozy, casual restaurant. Emanuel was a wonderful server and helped answer all of our questions about wine and food. We were so happy we got a res last minute and enjoyed every second of this dining experience!
